Ashton to explore for diamonds on Euro-Nevada lands in Tasmania

Ashton Mining of Canada Inc ACA
Shares issued 23,798,122 Oct 21 close $1.42
Thu 22 Oct 98 News Release
See Euro-Nevada Mining Corporation (EN) News Release
Mr. Pierre Lassonde reports
Euro-Nevada's wholly owned subsidiary, Pacific-Nevada Mining, has signed a
letter of agreement with Ashton Mining for the exploration of diamonds over
the approximately one million acres in north western Tasmania owned by
Pacific-Nevada. The exploration program is believed to be the first of its
kind in Tasmania since the discovery of diamonds in riverbeds during the
1880s alluvial gold rush.
Ashton, as manager, will have the right to earn a 51 per cent interest in
the diamonds contained in the project area after financing has reached the
point where 1,000 carats from a single kimberlite pipe on the property can
be demonstrated. In the event Pacific-Nevada's participating interest
dilutes to less than 30 per cent, its interest shall then automatically be
converted to a carried 5 per cent gross value royalty. Ashton has a
four-month option period commencing Oct. 1, 1998 during which it can assess
the diamond potential and feasibility of the project.
Pacific-Nevada has identified an alignment of discreet magnetic and
coincident electromagnetic anomalies paralleling a major regional fault
from a high resolution airborne geophysical survey it conducted over a
small portion of the prospective lands. Pacific-Nevada will continue with
its active $1.2-million (Australian) gold exploration program in this
region.
