Cabletron Announces the World's FirstGuaranteed Network; Smart Networking takes Cabletron's CustomerCommitment and Value Assessment to an Unprecedented Level October 20, 1998 08:23 AM ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 1998--Cabletron Systems CS today unveiled a major new marketing initiative at Networld+Interop, which moves the company towards a "return-on-investment" value assessment strategy, and addresses the needs of CIOs who are focused on the impact, efficiency and effectiveness of IT solutions. The first step in this new marketing initiative is a guarantee program that addresses a critical issue facing CIOs--built-in obsolescence of networks. The five guarantees include the following: 1. Life Cycle Guarantee - A Cabletron product provides at least twice the life expectancy of all competitive productions 2. Ownership Guarantee - A Cabletron product reduces cost of ownership by at least half that of all competitive products. 3.
