Here's the group within Piper that's supposedly responsible for the Dell fiasco today. I believe the comments were attributable to Mr. Kumar. I don't have the e-mail address for Kumar, but the e-mail address to the head of the group is below. I would suppose comments may be directed to him.

email address for Kumar,Piper Jaffray,no he didn't say anything about DELL.

John:
Here is the phone no and email for Kumar in case anybody wants give him a piece of their mind for making 'wild-ass' generalized comments without actually substantiating anything.Anyway the important thing is that he didn't say anything negative about DELL nor has he changed his outlook, rating (which by the way is 'strong buy') or estimate on DELL.

I think I will send a note telling him a thing or two, particularly the fact that his 15 minutes of fame may soon disappear like many others before him if he keeps up the B.S, generalized comment or not,which of course wouldn't do any good but that is ok I just want to get it out of the system.<g>

I don't know what exactly his comments were but here is a synopsis of
what allegedly happened.
==========================
Experpts from Reuters via Yahoo

After the close, Piper Jaffray said its analyst, Ashok Kumar, had made only broad comments about general information technology spending, which was showing signs of weakness.

Kumar did not change his rating or earnings estimates for Dell.

For its part, Dell said after the close it saw no weakness in its market and that demand for computers remained strong.
