Admittedly, it is Qualcomm press release. I am sure that Ericy will try to put a smiley face on it.

When you read the forthcoming Ericy press release, you should remember that Ericy first said cdma would not work. Then, it filed suit claiming Qualcomm was infringing its patents--8 of original 11 now gone. Then, it claimed to have blocking patents. Then, it claimed its W-CDMA did not infringe on Qualcomm patents, a claim that is now virtually conceded as untrue.

Ericy shareholders should be most concerned. Ericy is being terribly hurt by refusing to go cdma. It is standing virtually alone against the tide of cdma.

I believe that Ericy will soon obtain a license from Qualcomm and get on the cdmaOne bandwagon. Shareholders should welcome the news; although Ericy may have new competition, it will be in the ballgame and its size and market presence still provide it with the ability to capitalize on the market.
