First Settlement in a Year 2000 Software Class Action

NEW YORK--Oct. 13, 1998--Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach, lawyers for the plaintiff in a class action lawsuit raising Year 2000 issues in connection with "Pro Series" accounting software sold by Software Business Technologies Inc. (SBT) announced today that a settlement has been reached with the company.

Under the settlement, which is subject to court approval, SBT will make available a free Century Date Kit to owners of Pro Series 3.0i and Vision Point 8.0 software, which will enable users to make their software Year 2000-complaint. Owners of earlier versions will receive discounts on upgrades. Counsel for the plaintiff class, Michael C. Spencer, of Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach LLP in New York City, commented, "This is the first settlement of a Year 2000 software class action, and we are very pleased that it is being resolved on a constructive basis for the class."
