bob,

I was surprised how well CMPC held up. What do you think CMPC would be worth to someone like Compaq, or HP or IBM? I was also surprised Safeguard was up, even with those "earnings."

Speaking of which, does anyone have a better feel for the GAAP "requirements" for Safeguard recognizing the TLAB transaction as revenue? Did they really have no choice, or could they have held the security differently? It seems that if they had no choice, at least one of the analysts covering them should have known this and revised their estimates, no? I guess everyone is pretty used to a bumping up the earnings by a penny per quarter, whether they need it or not.
