BEIJING (CEIS) -- A SURVEY MADE BY THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL TRADE SHOWS THAT OVER 70 PERCENT OF THE CONSUMERS HOPE TO UPGRADE THEIR VCD TO DVD.

THE SALES OF VCD PLAYERS IN CHINA ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 11 MILLION THIS YEAR, UP 29 PERCENT OVER 1997. AT PRESENT THE VCD MARKET IS DOMINATED BY A FEW LARGE PRODUCERS. THE PRICES OF VCD ARE ALSO FALLING.

DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN ENTERPRISES ARE DEVELOPING DVD AND ARE TRYING TO REDUCE PRODUCTION COST. THIS WILL INCREASE THE COMPETITION ON VCD AND DVD MARKET.

Sorry about the caps...
