Hi Earl; In an endeavor to get you guys off the golden rule, and back (off topic) on a more amusing area, here are some links from The Onion:

An editorial in favor of Clinton:

Go Easy On The President!
Important statesmen and captains of industry are entitled to certain privileges, among which is the ravishing of unwed maidens. With that in mind, I wish to renew my own request for a mistress. Since announcing concubine auditions in April, I have received not a single reply. Foolish females! Do you not realize that I am one of the richest and most powerful men in the Republic?

About that richest One Percent that Les wants to "lop off":

Nation's Wealthiest One Percent Demands Minority Status
WASHINGTON, DC--A grass-roots coalition representing the highest socioeconomic stratum of Americans marched on Washington Tuesday to demand that the nation's wealthiest one percent be granted official minority status.

A (slightly sad) favorite is this one:

Custody Battle Sparks Couple's First-Ever Interest In Child
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--Area 8-year-old Danny Rasmussen is enjoying the attention of his parents for the first time ever, thanks to a bitter custody battle, it was reported Monday. "I sure as hell ain't letting Denice get the kid," father Larry Rasmussen said. "She got the house and the car, so I've got to keep something from that bitch." Denice Rasmussen expressed a similar determination. "I'll do whatever it takes to deny Larry custody," she said. "I'll even take that kid out and buy him whatever he wants." Danny, unaccustomed to being prioritized by his parents, is rejoicing over his newfound importance in their lives. "This means that they love me," he said.

<<What do you mean in the statement below, when you say "It is also a matter of fact." I think you are on a different wave length than I. ER>>

It is my own take on the Golden Rule. My observation is that everyone views the intentions of others through their own filter. However you view the "real world" is how you really expect others to treat you and you generally are prepared to deal out yourself. That is what I mean by the Golden Rule being a matter of fact. That is, most people do unto others as they really believe others would do unto them. Of course the usual thinking on this is that you "should" treat other people nice because that is what you would have them do unto you. But in reality some people don't like them selves very much, they don't treat them selves very nice, they wouldn't believe it is real if other people are treating them in a nice way, and they'd prefer people treat them in a harsh way because they are more prepared to deal with that and as a matter of fact they treat others in a harsh way. They have a mocking and scornful attitude toward the "should" aspect of the Golden rule because they don't thing they should be treated nice nor do they think they should treat others nice. Hopefully folks are trying to become better "nicer" people. In that sense the Golden Rule retains its should quality, because it represents the better, nicer, kinder person you are becoming. But if you are interpreting it to mean I should treat other people like a saint would want to be treated. You may say, that's not me and the whole concept flies out the window.
