Pigboy,

<<I believe the new asic is in the MKII-8 and a new MKII-16 (someone said it is available now, but I am not sure), offering all self-configuring ports. I was wondering if this meant that the MKII-16 now could be all FCAL rather than just half?>>

I didn't think to ask the question about the FC/AL ports, and my queries about a new MKII-16 were met with the usual, "we don't comment about unannounced products". <g> I don't think it is too far fetched to think that they would incorporate the new ASIC into the 16-port MKII, whether that is a new product altogether, or simply slip-streamed into the existing one.
