In the context of the conversation I was having with Mark in which we both agreed that we didn't accept the Bible as the complete and authentic word of God I made that statement.

"Any thing that is not in line with the Golden rule is suspect or filler at best."

Jesus said the entire Book could be hung on the Golden Rule. So, from your perspective (someone who accepts the whole book as the intact perfectly preserved and complete word of God) my statement is not applicable. But in reference to Mark and I, it means if we read something in the Bible that to us seems to contradict the Golden Rule then it becomes suspect. I would suspect such text depending on the text itself as having suffered from some corruption at the hands of a biased author, interpreter, or caretaking system.
