Site in previous post reads:
"...Revenues for the six months ended 6/30/98 ...Earnings reflect the absence of a $20.9 million charge for purchased in-process R&D."

I understand this as a reference to the Metaphase acquisition.
Announced Dec. 16,1996.
sdrc.com
( At the time the charge was expected to be greater. )
Here's a quote:
"The acquisition...will result in a one time charge...of approximately $25 million, primarily for the write off of in-process research and development, which is expected to be taken in the first quarter of 1997."

So the Yahoo statement, which is as of June, 1998 is saying that the first half of 1998 did not have the expense that 1997 did of the $20.9 million.

So it was last year.

Info from the c-call:

2nd version of Java based Web tool for PDM now released.
(competitors still on beta?)
Expect competitive wins in coming weeks.
Artisan = good acceptance, up 36% over last qtr.
PDM will surge in 1999 if Asia recovers.
(reason = companies see needs in weak periods, spend when recovery starts)

$160 million cash.
No debt.
$52 million deferred income.
Expect growth 1998 over 1997 = 17%
Comfortable with 17% growth in 1999.

Some things probably under-appreciated:
1. Consulting revenue probably will be $ 105-110 million this year.
2. PDM sales is nearing $100 million annually.
