It's not midnight in Pacific Time. So, how about this: Read microsoft.com What do you make of their pro-forma expensing scheme for ESOs? It looks to me like they're saying that reported EPS is hiding a huge opportunity cost. As I read it, if they sold, rather than granted, calls and paid employees the cash, pro forma earnings are: Three Months Ended Sept. 30, 1998 Reported Proforma Operating income 2,082 922 Net income available for common shareholders 1,676 898 Diluted EPS 0.62 0.35 Any shareholder, it seems to me, should at least be perturbed. Thoughts? mb

Sam, at least you asked nicely. But if discussion of all other companies that compete with MSFT were to leave this board, then lets be honest - what is the use of having this board. I know many of you would like to have a MSFT pure board so that you can "Hear No Evil - See No Evil - Speak No Evil", but all this board would become is a MSFT love-in with so much brainwashed postings going on that you might even forget that there is an industry beyond the walls of MSFT. So, I would have to respectfully decline your request. But thanks for asking politely. And a word of advice - dont stay up past midnight to read what you can read the next morning. Save that for people like me that stayed up past midnight creating these valuable postings for you to read. (MAN!!! I feel like Santa Claus leaving gifts under the tree for little boys and girls the next morning). Toy
