There's a link on voodooextreme.com to a French games site with a short article on the Rage128. Nothing too earth shattering in the text (the text basically says that ATI was successful with the original Rage chipset and then everyone thought they'd been seriously bypassed. Now they have a new chipset - which is a little late - that is very good. Here's some screen shots - from Quake2 and a demo - there are a few glitches but they look good - end French translation).

There are some negatives to CL's purchase. The first is that it may scare off other boardmakers from buying 3dfx chips. Second it may curtail other takeover action. I still think that it will be positive in the long run - 3dfx needs to issue a public statement on the purchase.
