On Monday, October 26, at Veritas's second annual user conference at Phoenix, Rob Davis, Ancor Director of Product Marketing, will give a presentation entitled "SAN Plumbing, " detailing how the various components of a SAN -- including SAN management -- work together in today's state-of-the-art storage environments. Heavy hitters such as HWP, IBM, SUN, MSFT, STK , AT&T , People SOft, LSI, EMC, Vixel ,Motorola, Brocade, Gadzoox ,Dell and users such as Chase Manhattan, Lehman Brothers, SalomanSmithBarney, Nomura, Morgan Stanley, Lockheed Martin,Nortel, Oracle will all be making presentations. Birds of a Feather Session: SAN Plumbing Ancor Apache Room 5:30-6:30pm This talk is about the Fibre Channel networking technology that is used to build Storage Area Networks (SANs). We call it "SAN Plumbing", because, to the VERITAS software product, the Fibre Channel hardware is the plumbing. The talk describes the components of the SAN, adapters, cables, switches, and hubs, and how they are put together to provide the SAN hardware infrastructure or "plumbing". It covers Fibre Channels capabilities as a flexible technology which is used for both Network LAN, messaging traffic and Storage SAN data traffic.
