Interesting article!! Part of the reason I like
investing is keeping up with new technology. I'd be
doing it anyways.

>>2. Will Motorola, or MIPS, or ARM / StrongARM dominate the CPU side of it?<<

MIPS was owned by SGI, right? Which I think they are discontinuing
or did they sell it off to somebody else?

>>3. Will COMS limit itself to pda type products, or will they begin to look at smart appliances?<<

I think they've got a whole bunch of things up their sleeve.
The doors are wide open. Thing is, they need to keep focused
for a while though. Too many distractions could hurt them.
One thing I'm looking out for is some types of Computer Telephony
devices. VoIP at NetWorld + Interop will be big on this. (IMO)

>>4. Will the home network (another de rigeur "killer app") be based on 1 server linking information appliances and home appliances, and if such, can COMS play a role in the appliances (vs. switches, etc.)? <<

I remember reading where Eric B's hobby is rigging up his home
with everytype of network application possible. Knowing COMS,
I'd say they are in the "home" area more than anybody else.

>>Respectfully submitted,<<

cut that out...we've already had a few "conservatively yours" posted...what do you guys do, smoke pipes for fun on a
lazy boy<gg>
