ADDI, My quick take on Xilinx may indeed be lousy. However, the URL you quoted simply ignores all the points and uses the old bait and switch to fool neophyte investors. Here are a few keys:

1. I said taxes were down while revenues and eps are up. Alias Smith and Jones misdirects to tax rates. Not what I mentioned. Taxes were down. Why? Because net income was down. A point the motel man missed.

2. His comments about inventory are disingenuous to say the least. Check the Xilinx Investor Tout Page. This quarter's inventories were up from last year by a percentage in the high single digits. Days of sales to get rid of that crap were also up from last year. True, at Podunk State, up may be down, but we Ivy Leaguers can count on our fingers and our toes. -g-

3. Buying stock at the top was the main culprit for reducing shareholder's equity. That is dumb whether done by Corporations or individuals or mutual funds.

4. I never mentioned sequential numbers. Not with a long quarter this year. That they did so bad year to year reflects the seasonals and the long quarter means they really did much worse.

Next time, try to read the numbers yourself and try to catch the co.'s spin. Then talk about mine. We have a "recession proof" chip stock -vbg- with lower net income and a buyback and employee options scam used to report eps slightly up at a T-Bond interest rate year to year. Oh, yeah, that's worth 30 times eps. Especially right before getting that lobotomy. -g-

I hope all your stocks aren't turkeys like this one.

Good Luck,

MB

a smart alec (no offense to any alecs ;-) post tends to produce a smart alec response.
