I mistakenly assumed you were shorting against the box.

I would love for someone to describe a situation in which a short against the box would be a good investment. Figuring out the premiums you would have to clear to make money doing this would indicate having to find a time bomb in the market. I cant recall a time bomb of this magnitude in recent memory. I dont include Ciena because that was all takeover speculation volatility. Any ideas anybody?
