In a way, sure, it has an impact. GTE is a competitor. SE doesn't have the entire market to itself. In this case, however, the more people using EDI, the more it becomes the established way of doing business, which is good for everyone in the EDI enabling business. Trade associations sponsorship is a good idea, I just don't know how many trade associations can actually call the shots. It would be better for them to endorse the industry standards. SE is, in effect, the banking industry's solution of choice, whether or not they have the association's blessing. I just don't have all the information about how many other industries they are in.
