3dfx has stated on numerous occasions that there will be (at least) 2 SEPARATE product lines

What lots of people on these boards fail to realize is that lots of the time management has no choice BUT to say what it says. What else would they say? "We plan on obsoleting our brand new chip within 6 months"??? Sales would dry up and investors would run. So instead, they make strong, confident sounding statements like "Banshee is the cornerstone of our strategy", sprinkle in some weasel words, and secretly hope that the engineering teams can pull it off. It's called "How the game is played."

The reality is that they don't really know. And I don't know either. Market conditions and the ability of the engineering teams to solve the really hard problems will dictate what actually happens. I am sure that 3Dfx will be revisiting this issue often as Rampage comes more into focus - especially in light of TNT's current ability to be most things to lots of people.
