Whoa. I dropkicked a Palindrome Post?! I don't take issue with your statement. Life is a mystery. And yet- living is easy as breathing. Living well, on the other hand... :-) Perhaps my scientific bent is a reflection of my character. I have a (ultimately unreasonable) longing to have things explained. Properly harnessed by some of the maturity and sophistication which come with incipient middle age, I have redirected this longing into a sometime search for underlying patterns. Western religion panders to my desire for explanations, reasons, a coherent underlying mythology. But I do not find the faith to accept the story and its consequences as real. Eastern religion and/or spiritual practice is not as hung up on a codified mythological canon. It is more do oriented. But it is ultimately introspective. The further an eastern student of spirit progresses, the more divorced he becomes from the mundane. I can't help but be frustrated by this. But that's me. The fact that we're "struggling to communicate" does much to underline the problem I see. The interapplicability thing.
