There is a very rational component to the fear held by many conservative Christians ( and Moslems and Jews ) that their lifestyles are under attack. That is the fear that the government run school systems are inculcating attitudes and beliefs antithetical to their own deeply held convictions.

This is being addressed by the home schooling movement and the drive for vouchers and tax credits all if which is simply an effort to gain back control over one's child's education.

May I suggest that many members of the Religious Right also seem to have irrational fears about attacks on their lifestyle? Here again, I believe these fears should be directly addressed, and not dismissed out of hand.
