Larry, if you do not belive in NN sell and forget about it. Who said that investment word is always making right decisions.There are plenty examples of stocks like NN. Look what will happen with ASND when it become obvious that LU is not buying it.

Zbyslaw is correct perhaps the best thing you can do with this "dog" is sell. I on the other hand have no intention of doing so. Newbridge is undervalued in my opinion and sooner or later (I choose sooner) the price will reflect what is going on at the company. LU and CSCO are leaders and will move up first, but from what I see Newbridge is not loosing market share it is gaining. Look at the wireless contract and the DT win today. CrossKeys is starting to show why they are so highly thought of in the market place and Cambrian is bursting onto the market with the metro DWDM. I look for several upgrades in the next several months and more contract wins of major size.

You must look at where NN is today and assess if you think the stock is fairly priced at this level, I do not and intend to hold.

Larry: NN was in a downtrend only because it had not delivered. We were told that Sales were to increase to $5b by 2002. Todate, though 6 mths (12.5%) of that period is over, the Market is still waiting. Further, with time, competition will intensify. Therefore, income growth is not going to be easy. Also note that most Companies stumble in trying to make the transition from the +$1b to the next $5b level.

Based on current market conditions, if current earnings and revenue expectations are met, NN may be up a maximum of 4 to 5 pts on current price over a 5 mth period.

Any one with greater expectations may do better elsewhere.

As I posted on an earlier letter, NN has been around publicly, since 1989, and it seems that all NN is good for currently is takeover speculation at depressed prices.

Larry ---

I've talked to numerous NN employees over the past two days and certainly don't get the feeling anyone is sitting around waiting to be taken out. Quite the opposite. From what I see, this is a company wanting to stand on its own and be competitive in the growing converged voice/data equipment markets. I also had the privilege of talking to several analysts and large fund managers who've followed the company for far longer than I have, and the general feeling is that the company is moving from being product-oriented to being business-oriented. Analysts are looking for more linearity of earnings and for a public announcement on the GlobalOne RFP before upgrading.

I would hate to see NN become an earnings play and have to suffer the volatility that involves. I'll settle for consistent quarter-point days.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard positive comments on Alan and the new direction he's taking the company. They're being challenged on several fronts and the next few months will be critical in terms of contracts. I'll sleep better when the EVP for marketing is in place.

If you follow up and down moves on NN versus its competitors on a daily basis, you'll go nuts. Better to take a page from the analyst community and make a check-list of goals to be met and base your investment decisions on how well the company performs.

Just my take.
