Mike, your right that last line was a nice find. So it seems the deployable time frame is whats being questioned. Understandable from my point of view. Hey, that might explain why Ba keeps pressing the PR's out. :} I keep reading the term converged ATM/IP networks. All this is above my head but it almost seems that some of the technical details are not worked out yet. Maybe someone here can clue us in.

"Over the life of the five-year agreement, Lucent will also provide up to $2 billion in equipment financing to fund the buildout of the world's first global end-to-end broadband network.

Thread,
The above clip is out of recent Lucent news. Now if Ascend did something this, the analysts and financial press would go nuts about it. Lucent is doing a $2B(!) loan and more than likely it won't be picked apart. Ascend does a $8.6M loan and it gets thrashed. I bet you LU records the shipments as revenue too, before they get repaid. Ascend doesn't even record it as revenue until they get paid back in full.

Of course I don't know all the details, but I doubt a lot of analyst do either when they trash Ascend.
Just in the FWIW department.
