Scum, the AMD site link you just posted (http://www.amd.com/news/prodpr/9876.html) said, "AMD today announced availability of the AMD-K6® /300 processor optimized for mobile computing." That looks like a K6, not a K6-2, and it suggests that AMD has different versions of the K6 for desktop and mobile, just like Intel.

As for the other link you posted (http://www.pcbydesign.com/notebook-spec-0704.htm), I think that's an error. The top of the web page says "AMD K6 300 64MB 4.0GB HDD NOTEBOOK." Even though the "Model" field says "AMD K6-2 300 W/ 3D NOW," that's got to be a misprint.

Thanks for the links, though. I wasn't sure that AMD had different versions of the K6 for desktops and notebooks. Now I know for sure. And it also suggests to me that AMD can't use underclocked K6-3 parts for their notebooks.
