I guess a gamble in the sense that it could turn some banks off to CheckFree. But with Citi joining MSFDC, Pete probably feels that the alternatives to CheckFree are worse than ever. In addition, if consumers can view and pay their bills through Yahoo, Banks will most likely work harder to bring their web based solutions to market sooner. I think the real risk for CheckFree is that if they just decided to wait for the banks.

I think Rai Archibald was trying to get a feel of when and which portal would be presenting...Pete's baseball answer wasn't too informative, but I imagine that the portals will be up and running sooner than most of the banks (the whole point of working with the portals is to get more bills to more consumers, faster).
