My grannie saw a deer in the 60's and that made the news. Now over 200,000 shot each year.

The hedges are gone. Farming is a business and not a lifestyle any longer. Sad passage of time.

"If it weren't for the deer it sounds like desert." My thots. Not even any bugs? Sounds like lunar hydroponics. Gonna get rid of the dirt?

I do understand the economic pressure to fenceless farming. It's just strange. And maybe dangerous? Hey ~ not that I would have a clue.

Remember that 50's sci fi film where the grasshoppers got BIG? That scared the excrement out of me when I was a kid. I worried ~ honestly worried ~about what I would do, confronted with an 8 foot grasshopper coming in the window. The boards weren't working.

Maybe get a CD of seagull noises and crank it up?
Big wok? My dad was NO help. Loser. Never prepared.

'Course today, a kid would just think of Armaments Big Enough.

"Your ass is grass, hopper!!!" Foof/sploosh/foof-foof/sploosh.
