Alternative For Enterprise -- Industri-Matematik, i2 Technologies Team To Offer Supply-Chain Bypass To ERP
Tom Stein

Supply-chain management vendors Industri-Matematik International Corp. and i2 Technologies Inc. want to offer organizations an alternative to enterprise resource planning. They have formed a strategic partnership to develop, market, and sell a next-generation supply-chain product that will integrate i2's Rhythm suite of advanced-planning and decision-support products with IMI's System ESS order-execution software. No release date has been set.

The offering could be an alternative for companies that need to address strategic supply-chain issues but haven't installed an ERP system. Such businesses could turn to the new product from IMI and i2 for their enterprise computing backbones, adding modules for human resources and financial applications as needed. Company officials say the i2/IMI offering will deliver Revenue Management, Demand Creation, Channel Management, Sales Configuration, and Integrated Warehouse and Transportation Management modules.

Karen Peterson, business process planning manager at Lucent Technologies, says i2 is making it possible for some companies to eliminate ERP by adding new functions to its core supply-chain suite. "ERP helps you optimize your back-office and internal business processes," she says. "But companies really need to optimize their customer-facing operations. A supply-chain tool does more for your growth than an ERP system."

This is from the Yahoo board, an informative group. Something that cannot be said for many other boards over there.

Mohan, thank you for your past posts, you uncovered some good back dated information.

I forgot to comment on your excellent entry into i2, well done! On another note you'll be happy to know I bought a DELL computer this past month.<g>

DKG

I was wondering if we'd see a runup in this stock today....doesn't seem that way. I wonder if this is either a)someone already knows the results or b)it's based on the recent reports from e.g. PSFT, SAP, etc.

Any thoughts?? I'm starting to hate earnings week. It's just too stressful....It used to be fun not all that long ago.
