Hi JBN

I think we and others already posted on this subject.

You and many others have given so much time and input to make this thread special.

Unfortunately, it is somewhat less then what it was and what it could be.

Looks like the Fact and Stats thread might be running out of steam and we have too much "fog" on this one.Yet all the "good guys" are still here, so who knows, maybe the recent nonsense will go away.

Hopefully, the neighborhood will be the same friendly and helpful place it once was.

Basically, the problem is not with the company (Dell) it is the company that some of us keep.

Regards,

QT

bachman - Where you been? Yes I read your post to LoD. And in the Grand Plan (scheme) of civility, you are quite correct. It seems however that as our towns and cities grow we become more diverse in the spectrum of it's (thread) citizens. And thats why we depend upon the city fathers (guys like you) to guide the workings on the "Threadapolis"! So quit being a stranger you have not posted in quite awhile.

Interesting thoughts jb..kinda made me think of the final few weeks before Bre-X crashed. There was this highly regarded analyst who was charging lets say...$100/yr for his monthly reports...when he hit paydirt with Bre-X...he increased his fees and even added a fax service at an astronomical price....needless to say..we all knew what happened next.

While I am not saying DELL is going to be Bre-X...I also was attracted to this post hence my subsequent membership to SI because of classy posts from you, Kembs, and others...but......I have moved on to other threads and just bookmarked the key players! Regards.

<<< Time to Reminisce.... I remember a thread on SI.>>>
Hi Three, great to hear from you. Of course the thread is evolving and changing- more difficult now to get a word in edgewise(G)
Its very positive for Dell and the industry ( which we seem to invest in)gg, to see the predicted exponential expansion of web users and SI members come true.
I am encouraged to think that most of the oldies are all around and "listening in" or posting (Pat, Reuben, Protsenko, Victoria, Kelley,Weiss,Koligman, etc. (Wish we could hear from that Navy guy in Pt. Magu).
As one who has come up from the bottom ( having to work)on the bootstraps of Dell, Ala Kembles experience, I can say each year it gets a LOT easier to withstand the very predictable post split tankings of Dell and other market action. Last October was twice a scary for me as this October. And that is despite winning or losing maybe one 'paper house' in a day.
Whenever the market seems to take a steep downward trend the bears all over the world work like beavers to take it down as far as possible, undermining and questioning governments, financial institutions and predicted growth rates and earnings. I think they have about run out of steam.
IBM, msft, yhoo, cpq, Dell, all came thru the enemies worst accusations intact.
IMO this years increased (stock price) volatility is here to stay, replacing the old times of steady low returns and more stability.
There are too many buyouts, consolidations, rumors spread over the Web, and on-line trades. Great day-trading opportunities.
Meanwhile marauding bears with insulting attitudes or time worn negative arguments can expect to be torn to shreds and have various tender body parts roasted, decorated with parley, and served up on heated platters. Many experienced cooks are in attendance.
There is just too much at stake( the risk of losing a beautiful
enrichened financial future), to have tentative newcomers scared off by publishing unproven or fallacious BS about Dell. Facts and theories
are always welcome.
Dell is the next Dell
Be prepared to rent an entire hotel for next July meeting(:O)
Regards
Sig

Bachman, I agree with your call for civil and productive discussion. I know that you didn't direct the last post at me, but rather to the thread in general.

I like to stay on topic, but at the same time, I'm not going to allow certain folks to run roughshod over the thread, spewing their venomous BS.

Regards,

LoD

To the thread,

Regarding my last post, requesting a return to civility and a thread the reputation of which does credit to the company we follow:

Please note: It was intended for the thread at large, and was not aimed at any particular individual. It just happened to be Steve's post I was reading, when my itch reached the 'must scratch' point. It was not directed at Steve (LoD), but at each of us who may be guilty of the particular behaviors I was criticizing.

However, just as I caution others when I think their posts start to discredit the thread, I would ask that you tell me when I am guilty. I don't pretend to be perfect. If we work together, we can maintain DELL-like quality standards to make this a better investment tool for all of us.

FWIW, had to buy more DELL calls and LEAPs this week. <ggg>

Best regards to all -- bachman, aka "DELLish, 3"
