steve,

Went to Papa Murphy's last night to buy a "Chicago style" pizza that you take home and bake.

Right on the counter was a Verifone number key-pad.

I paid with a credit card......and had to hunch over the keypad, shielding it with one hand and watching out of the corner of my eye at the other customers........and had to ask the pizza guy to turn around. Then I entered my 4 digit pin and pressed enter.

After all of that.......they still did not know for sure that it was brad greene who bought that pizza. In fact, I have no doubt I could rant and rave when by bill comes, and have the charge removed.

What a hoot!......My index finger would be faster, and more secure for me and the credit card company.

HP bought Verifone.......Mondex and HP are the folks who control the authentication process........and it is clear to me that the jump to the "one digit PIN" will begin with software.....then hardware.

IDX knows this....they are located in the same town as HP......and have a close conversational relationship with HP.
