RSD,

Heck, they were running UNIX on the System 360s that I worked on in the late 60s!

>>1- Does IBM have enough money to keep an existing product better than MSFT's wannabe ware?<<

Maybe, but that money also has to support Hardware development somewhere along the line, and Microsoft is dedicated to ONLY software development. Focused on SOFTWARE so to speak, while IBM has to continue to push technology in both arenas. Also it is necessary to remember that MSFT isn't particularly directed at the very large systems at this time.

>>2- If NT will be scalable when it needs to be and it needs to be scalable now, why isn't it scalable now?<<

I believe that scalability is in the eyes of the beholder. Some would say that NT is Scalable already! Scalability will improve in the future, as did UNIX over the course of years that it has been available.

>>3- If WINTEL is taking over the world, how did IBM and SUNW manage to report improved earnings?<<

Am I missing something here? Didn't MSFT report some pretty impressive earnings?

Just MHO, however.

Regards,

Ken
