IT slowdown Part II??? Where? Where?? You see any?

MW:

Well here is more on the great IT spending slowdown. Alright so far I counted approx 500-600 billion in IT spending in Asia,145 billion for the Euro thing, and another 600 billion or so for the Y2K thing, add all the 'things' up that is at least a trillion and change.

As long as these guys buy a few DELL Pcs worth a few billion here are there from the 1 trillion or so that is all we need and then they can slow down all they want.

The Euro Boosts Demand For IT and Consulting Services in Europe and U.S.

Euro Non-compliance Threatens the Competitive Strengths of U.S. Companies

In less than four months, on January 1, 1999, the single European currency, the euro, will make its debut. This will mean that every company that conducts any business with divisions, partners, suppliers, or customers in Western Europe will soon be affected by this event. A new study published jointly by International Data Corporation's (IDC) U.S. and European Consulting and Management Services research programs estimates that total worldwide euro spending is to reach $145 billion – a cost that will be mainly incurred by companies between a seven-year period, 1996 and 2002, and which will primarily (60%) represent an internal expenditure. The external expenditure (40%) will primarily represent IT and consulting services.
