James, quite frankly I know very little about the exact way that MM and brokers work. I have never seen them in action and neither have I worked for one or studied them closely. But from what I read, I know that MM often do naked short a stock. When they do that they have all the interest in the world for it to go down so they can cover it at a lower cost.
Perhaps what I have read is wrong. Perhaps it is only some conspiracist ploy in which case you may be 100% right, but I've read this in many different places and so far this theory (whether it be right or wrong) is working great to make me money, so I will stick with it. I will try to furnish a link that may explain better what I am trying to address since my knowledge of the field is indeed limited.
Best,
Rommy
