Chris: and a fifth option...which is correct.
Here again is a direct quote lifted (with permission) from a letter to me by Robert Grenier at Siemens:

Siemens is utilizing off-the-shelf products and co-writing proprietary adaptions of same with (and for) FNTN."Open Technology with proprietary enhancements". The FNTN platform uses, as a base, openly available hardware and software technologies. This allows FNTN (and Siemens) to take advantage of the "best-of-breed" products at the most cost effective prices. Proprietary enhancements are then "layered" onto the open platforms, providing performance enhancements and FNTN product uniqueness. When new releases of Hardware, Operating system and application software are released, FNTN can easily upgrade. Siemens uses this approach internally.

So according to Siemens, Financial Intranet will have "(proprietary) product uniqueness."

Hope this helps,

Wally

Heyy Chris,
Yes that is the function of a beta test sight, the diff being if and if the conjecture is accurate in that we are more then a Beta, that we are involved with the actual development of these products, there is a lead time of access prior to wide angle availability. If you will recall the concept of "lead blockers" for a software company there is the same thing on the hardware side, especially if you are the one that seeded the cloud. L & S FNTN,, barbara
