This might hurt a bit on Monday... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soros may sell $41 mln in Earthlink stock Reuters Story - October 23, 1998 21:53 WASHINGTON, Oct 23 (Reuters) - International financier George Soros told securities regulators he may sell $41 million worth of Internet service provider EarthLink Network Inc.'s common stock, according to recent regulatory documents. Soros wants to dispose of 145,704 shares worth about $6 million "within 3 months of October 15" while his investment vehicle Quantum Industrial Partners LDC may sell 933,210 shares valued at $35 million in the same period, form 144s filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission showed. That form merely notifies regulators of an intent to sell shares but does not obligate a sale. The proposed dispositions would be handled through Nationsbank Montgomery Securities in San Francisco. New York City-based Michael Neus, a Soros lawyer, refused to comment on the proposed sale, saying: "Our general policy is not to comment on individual securities filings." A telephone call to a Soros media spokesman was not immediately returned. According to a separate SEC filing made on June 26 by a group that included Soros, Quantum and others, Soros beneficially owned 1,095,555 shares, or 9.06 percent, of Pasadena-based EarthLink's roughly 28 million shares outstanding. Quantum benefically owned 945,466 shares, or 7.84 percent, that same filing said.
