Got some junk mail today which for some reason caught my eye because Portico was on the cover. This mailer was called Potpourri. A company called Signet Paging and Cellular in San Ramon California had the front page ad saying "We've got it All!" followed by a listing of products:

Sprint PCS, Cellular One, Nextel, and Portico.

It had a little blurb,

Portico with "magicTalk.
Portico is the only second generation virtual assistant that centralizes your information and offers convenient access through the sound of your voice or the Web.

Personally, I wonder if they couldn't find a better way to communicate this message?

Again, you hit the point of an infomercial or something that has more than a slogan to explain this service. In the end though, it will be word of mouth that will sell this service. Sure wish they would give an incentive of free minutes or something to users who give leads that end with a sale.

I believe we will see Portico in the Mall before Christmas. If they've got these local stores selling it, why won't we see it in the Mall. Looking at the very well styled start up package I got, I can see this taking a very good percentage of attention with a simple display. These people in the store have lots of time to do demos and plenty of financial incentive to make the sale. It will be effective.

Regards,

Mark
