Chuzz- In the post that Tigerpaw listed this morning, Mort mentioned 17% over the next 2-3 years....Although I don't have a URL, I am certain that MD, when he mentioned the 17% rate two weeks ago, also mentioned (over) the 2-3 year period...

So, only a 2-3 year prediction for now..

Over the next five years? Without digging up comments made by MD, TM in the past, a safe bet is that they would agree with a 15% benchmark..obviously, the possibility of them predicting, sometime in the future (even higher growth during the next five years), has increased with the recent 17% (over the next 2-3 year) pronouncements....

Obviously, over a shorter timeframe, the likelihood (that their forecast(s) could be correct) increases...

On the one hand, it is amazing to think that these guys are predicting an increase in the overall rate of PC sales over the next 2-3 years (given economic problems in certain parts of the world), but on the other hand, to me, their prediction also reinforces the belief that purchases of PC are no longer discretionary spending for many corporations around the world...they are becoming as necessary the electricity a company uses to turn on the lights in the morning (or, as MD likes to call his products, the tools of modern economic warfare)...

Although it is difficult to forecast so far in advance, I feel very good about the years 4-5 of the next 5 year period....Certainly, by then, Asia, Japan, Latin America, should be out of the current crisis, and back on a more normalized growth path, and China business should be booming....As it impossible to know what stage of the economic cycle we will be in in Europe and the U.S., the fact that PC upgrades are becoming even more a necessity to do business should only help to increasingly lessen any current existing cyclical relationship between overall economic conditions and PC sales (upgrades)...(I know, i know...that last sentence was a poorly written, but you get the drift, no?)

As Fernando would say, "Looking good"....or was the Freddie Prinze?
