Orckit to Demonstrate Broad Range of Business and Residential End-user Applications for Its DSL Systems at Telecom Israel Exhibition

TEL AVIV, November 4, 1998 -- Orckit Communications (NASDAQ: ORCTF) will demonstrate its high speed CopperTrunk® and FastInternetâ„¢ Digital Subscriber Line systems at Telecom Israel.

Orckit's family of Digital Subscriber Line systems enable Telecom Operators to provide their business and residential customers with a broad range of revenue-generating services, since they enable data access at speeds up to and over 1000 times faster than some analog modems, using regular copper telephone lines.

Together with Israeli application system providers, including Phonet Communications (Herzlia), Vsoft (Yoqneam) and Veon (Herzlia), Orckit will be demonstrating interactive services such as IP telephony gateways, video-on-demand, fast access to the Internet and electronic commerce.

"Orckit provides the broadband DSL ‘pipe' through which huge amounts of information can flow, however it is important to show useful, real-world illustrations of what telecom operators can provide through that pipe," said Dan Arazi, Orckit's Executive Vice President. "For example, we are demonstrating how geographically dispersed offices can be connected cost-effectively with Internet-Protocol-based hot-line telephones using CopperTrunk High bit rate DSL."

Orckit is supplying its DSL system solutions in over forty countries worldwide, including two of the world's largest DSL deployments by Deutsche Telekom and GTE.

For more details and a demonstration, the public is invited to visit Orckit's stand #3007, at Telecom Israel Exhibition (9-12 November), Tel Aviv Exhibition center.
