As Barbara pointed out before, not everyone can be, or wants to be, a trader. Some of us have regular jobs. I agree with you that stocks are instruments towards an end, and should be used in a mercenary fashion. I do not agree that they only way they can be used successfully is by trading them. Do you or do you not concede that money can be made with long-term investing strategies? This management has stated on many occasions how they intend to implement their business plan to achieve their goals. Since you know the company and the industry well enough to trade the issue - has the management delivered on their promises? It's one thing to blindly swallow "the party line". It's another thing to continually assess whether the management has the ability and the means to implement their plan and whether the plan continues to fit with the current reality. As far as I can tell, they continue to back up their words with actions. Today speaks rather directly to this point. I don't care if you trade this stock. I don't even care if you make more money shorting it or trading it than I will by investing in it long-term. What I do mind is that you seem to think we are a bunch of idiots that ignorantly accept anything the company chooses to tell us, without the faculties to determine whether or not there is a basis in fact. For short-term trading, perception is critical, for long-term investing fundamentals are critical.
