LOL! That's a great story. And I don't feel so bad. I was reminding spouse of the incident, and particularly about them guys not being very amused, and she remembered the whole thing.

I guess your vehicle can burn right up to the gas tank before you notice it, and even then the explosion could prevent you knowing.
Still, people should be checking their mirrors, shouldn't they? ~and putting me on the bus.

"....turning the event into an impromptu social occasion."

I live in a small town. I know exactly what you mean. Every incident is an occasion, and you see all these people you know. Lots of laughing, people gettin together......seein what happened....going for a beer after.....helping the people... it's not like anywhere else. Crashes, fires, parades, practice burns, building movings, new sod in the park.....

I live on a hill. Always crashes getting old friends together.
Last year the house down the street burned. Big hoo-haw.......blocked the street at my corner; big fire hoses, dalmation ~ just like a block party.... everyone in the appropriate Norman Rockwell costumes. You can always walk up to someone you know and ask em what the heck......
