bp - not to belabor the issue [sorry, pun police are probably now coming after me], but where the problem lies is the timeline between conception and delivery. Somehow, we have arrived at a point where it seems the mainstream medical profession is loathe to perform abortions after the second trimester, but that is a fairly old (in technological terms) turning point on the issue of viability. Viability is slowly, but inexorably moving toward earlier stages of pregnancy.

To counter that situation, the left is stepping back to promoting and advocating the dogma of "it's not a person until delivery" theory again, and has established a crucial new benchmark with the "anything prior to full term delivery" in the now legitimized use of the partial-birth method. Now that they have achieved the goal of making it legal to kill children during childbirth, the next step in the plan can be implemented - doctors can be co-opted into performing abortions on-demand at whatever term the patient desires.

Like I said - another step down the ladder into the sewer. The smell, well, we'll get over it, right?

Mr. K.

bp,
But there was also that case... too bad I dont remember the names but Ill look it up... anyway she was this beauty queen who married a rich guy and was living in Hawaii (unimportant details but in case anybody remembers this). She got pregnant, and he apparently feared this as a threat to his fortune, so he hired an assassin to kill her. They ended up killing her baby and paralyzing her from the waist down. He was not charged with murder, instead it was reduced to some form of manslaughter allegedly because he had political connections.

The point is, murder of a fetus is only murder when it is politically advantageous.
