From the Omaha World-Herald (newspaper): UP sez it earned 38 mill, or .15 a share, for the third qtr that ended sept. 30. this breaks a string of 3 qtrs of losses totaling 633 mill.. the 38 mill. earned in this qtr is in sharp contrast to the 240 mill earned in the same qtr a year ago. Also says recent flooding in KC and Texas does not help, and revenue totaled 2.4 Bill for this qtr, down from 2.58 bill in the same qtr a year ago. net income was 32 mill from the railroad and 6 mill from 'overnite transportation', UP's trucking unit that is for sale. aside from that, keep in mind we are now in the grain hauling season. Where we will haul it TO and store it is beyond me, but this is harvest season around here (in Omaha NE).
