Don, it was actually November 1996, platinum was selling
for a mere $3 over gold at one point and I believe it briefly fell below gold a bit. Historically platinum has sold for a premium of around $100 over gold. This is because platinum is much rarer with 20 times more gold mined yearly than platinum. The other reason
and a big plus for platinum is there is no huge supply from the central banks overhanging the market.
