Roger-

That tracert command is *very* cool. I noticed from mine that all
the qwest links were very fast. Good for them anyway.

To all, I quote from eBay announcements:

As many of you are painfully aware, customers who arrive
at eBay via the MCI NAP (Network Access Point) have been
experiencing poor to terrible response time over the past
few weeks.

A NAP is like a freeway onramp or offramp on the internet,
and if there's too much traffic trying to get on or off
the freeway for the number of lanes on the ramp, traffic
gets backed up (anyone who commutes in a major metropolitan
area knows what this feels like, especially if there are
metering lights).

Exodus has been trying to solve this problem for months,
but cannot get additional bandwidth to this NAP.

Unfortunatly, you the customer, nor eBay, has any control
over whether or not you go through this NAP. It's all dependant
on the routes chosen by the internet, and has nothing to do
with who your ISP is.

Our operations staff monitors the support board constantly,
and EVERY customer who complains is having their traffic
routed through this overcrowed onramp.

eBay has decided to bypass the whole problem, and acquire
additional bandwidth AROUND the problem, and backhaul into our
installation at Exodus. This means that eBay will effectivly
have two ISPS to serve you from.

We are currently interviewing other bandwidth providers, and one
of the criteria will be how fast we can get the additional
connectivity in. We'll keep you posted.
