average deal size will be hard to use as a forward metric, I'd guess arounbd $150k, but I don't know. as you heard, 14 deals over $500k.

It looks like Essbase kicked serious butt. They bundled in MBA with Essbase revenues, but i think several MBA purchases were pushed off or switched to Essbase. OLAP tools were up 85% year over year and I'd guess Essbase grew more than that.

Again, that's pretty much expected, leverage in the apps business doesn't begin until after integration with essbase is delivered in this quarter.

I'm not sure of the average deal size, however, I would not expect reduced head count to figure materially into cost savings. the companies have always said that the synergies are on the sales side, and I know that there have been only minimal reductions in sales force. There has been some consolidation in back office, however, it will not be material savings.

What Trader Greg said before is correct. The goal is to puch Essbase, the highest growth product in the company, through to Hyperion's installed base. While there will be opportunity to sell Pillar and Enterprise to Esbasse installees, the goal is to grow Essbase.

That has also been reflected in the training by the company which has been more focused on teaching former Hyp reps how to position Essbase.

Loved the earnings and the strong open today.
