Hi read the article but I think it was lacking something..most people are passive and are just concerned with their own little sphere and immediate results and never think of long term effects on all..also most people like to block out painful things..so they would rather buy into false promises..rather than paying attention to what is actually going on.. human nature doesn't change..I loved the quote supplied by Goldsnow about learning from history that one doesn't learn from history.. ps. It is easy to see a microcosm(sp) on this thread..

This article shows that the whole voting system should be reformed. The English Author Neville Shute wrote a novel called "No Highway" in which he proposed that a system of multiple votes be installed. Everybody got one vote, to keep people happy, then individuals got extra votes based on education or net worth , for serving their country in the Armed forces, for living abroad for 3 years. I can't remember the rest, you could get a maximum of 6 votes, but the idea struck a chord with me. In the novel Canada and Australia adopted the system first and then reluctantly Britain was forced to go along. Because they got much better governments elected by wiser people. Neville Shute's books are worth a read. He wrote "On the Beach" which was made into a film.
