During the early part of the quarter the shipments were a little softer than expected and by Septemeber 24 shipments were adjusting and guidance for the quarter was on track with street estimates. $458 million.

Reduction in operating costs from 46% to a more normal 36% should occur by the end of the next FY. This quarter should be in the 44-43% range.

Perhaps Pat had more updated numbers
Regards,
Glenn

Any idea if NN is on track to meet their numbers ?

I don't have anything definite but I know for certain Alan understands the importance of keeping the analysts happy and to do that the company has to meet expectations. I was most encouraged by my conversation with the CFO of PMC-Sierra who said sales globally are strong, including Japan, China, and even some improvement in Korea. They control 80% of the ATM chip market, so I think it's a pretty good indicator of the strength of the sector.

Thanks for the kind words. I thoroughly enjoy researching the companies I follow, and this includes seeing their products at tech shows and talking to analysts and managers at conferences. The fun of tech shows comes when you talk to employees and pick up bits of information that support knowledge you've heard in other arenas. This usually doesn't come from top management but from those on the front lines. Nothing you can take to the bank. I just consider them more pieces to the puzzle and the more you have the sooner you'll see the final picture.

Later ---

Pat
