Hi Vince. Geez and this internet chatting used to be fun! I still think it is! The predominant approach should always be "use common sense"!

What I object to is the double-standard, as you have said. It gives shareholders the "impression" that companies will be active only if their stock-options are threatened, right or wrong, that is the "impression"! If in fact it was "company integrity", then what about "shareholder equity" in the company integrity equation? if in fact it was company integrity that motivates them, then quelling all rumours/slurs/comments would be a high priority! Would it not?

I believe this will backfire on MDIN and will likely subject them to further scrutiny by shareholders to ensure the "purity standard is maintained"!! All companies risk the danger of being held accountable for flippant statements of wordology, that they may not want!!! The days of "guessing" at what you have in the ground and the resulting "guessing" of how much it will cost to remove it from the ground, without so much of a drill hole in the property will likely be the rhetorical approach by shareholders to this type of behaviour. There is an unspoken code between company and shareholders. IMHO The code generally accepted is;
1) "you bullshit me, and make me happy with your dreams" and I will buy more of your shares in the hopes that the bullshit comes true!
2)However, if the bullshit is truly bullshit then stand back because you are going to take an earfull
3) If you sue me for the earfull, then standby to be scrutinized for the "bullshit", more thoroughly!!!

I only have to look at the resulting furor on the Antares thread to realize threats pose "little to no" relevance!!
(IMHO) I think your example of "Mike J" is relevant and likely could be used in the ensuing defence. A company reply of "oh I didn't read that one, I only read the one I didn't like....won't cut it!!!

Categorically I am stating! Companies cannot have it both ways! Either stay the hell out of the SI chat group completely or contribute....there is no riding the fence any longer!!

Companies that are unhappy with the way SI broadcasts to the world the status of their company (as perceived by SI members) should attack SI and GO2net to make this a private forum!! However, most companies appreciate the "free IR" SI gives them...double-dedged sword...eh what!

Companies must address shareholder concerns at the onset in these forums or reap the harvest of rumour, GOOD OR BAD!!

So many question,.......so few answers.

Always a pleasure Vince.
