In a multimonitor setup in win98 can the AGP card or any of the PCI card's be the primary monitor?

CD-R and CD-RW. I picked up an HP 8100i from Costco last weekend to try this out. They wanted $350, and have an extremely liberal return policy. What tipped me over the edge was the software package, which includes a very complete disaster recovery bundle that I have yet to test, but that gets high marks on usenet.

I've decided to return it for a SCSI drive. With limited testing, it works fine so far (though there are a few minor glitches in the adaptec bundled apps), but requires me to disable my NT busmaster drivers to work properly. This delivers a noticable performance hit whenever I'm doing anything disk intensive. In addition, I'd like to keep the limited EIDE channels free and enjoy the boost in reliability that SCSI should give this particular perhipheral.

Buycomp is listing the new Yamaha drives at very reasonable prices: $280 for a 16x2x2 and $370 for a 16x4x4 (read/CD-r/CD-RW) drives. They are retail, with full software bundles, and have a 1 or 2 meg buffer. Neither are yet in stock. I placed a buycomp order earlier this week, and backordered one of each, figuring that since their shipoping is basically flat after about 3 items (save on big things like monitors and laster printers,) I'd place the order then cancel the one I didn't want. Called today, and they aren't scheduled to be in before Nov 5.

I'm wondering whether I'll much appreciate the 4x modes of the faster drive. I'm also assuming that 1 MB buffer will be plenty ample for 2x recording in either media, though I don't have the experience to confirm this.

Comments and feedback welcome.
