"According to the source, GTech and TNS executives reached basic agreement on the deal two weeks ago, and GTech was at the time confident that it had access to funding. But as turmoil has swept world financial markets in recent weeks, GTech has not been able to secure funding to complete the deal. If the matter is not resolved by early next week, TNS will walk away from the deal and pursue a smaller merger deal that has been put aside for the GTech deal, the source said."
