collection and communications device that is designed to excel in the harsh,
demanding environments of today's mobile workforce. Withstanding 10 four-foot
drops to concrete and temperatures to -4 degrees F, this extremely tough
product is lightweight at just over a pound. With advanced features such as
auto-sensing backlit touchscreen display, signature capture, IrDA data port,
and an internal Type II PCMC1A slot, ease of data collection is greatly
improved. An optional integrated 1-D bar code scanner reads all standard bar
code symbologies and the on-screen activation trigger is software controlled
for operation with either hand. Wireless LAN communications via a PC card
supports direct sequence or frequency hopping spread spectrum RF. Short range
RF provides wireless communications to a printer .
Priced right at a low $1665 list, beta units are now available for
evaluation and application development. Production units will begin shipping
the first of next year.
